This is the big one: Adams's own selection of fifty years of work, printed large on heavy stock. Those of us on the Monterey Peninsula will spot the neighbors. There's Cypress and Fog, Pebble Beach (1967), and a portrait of Robinson Jeffers taken in Carmel around 1927 that's worth the price of admission on its own. The Sierra plates, like Frozen Lake and Cliffs (1932), show why people still argue about whether photographs can be as dense as paintings.
Bound in gray linen with a black cloth spine and the embossed AA monogram. This copy no longer has its dust jacket or slipcase. The boards show light soiling and a few small spots, including a yellowish mark on the rear board, and the spine ends are rubbed. The plates inside are clean and crisp.
